Write on whatever topic you would like: funny, serious, whatever! (tag it with “open topic”)

OK…this will never come out as funny nor interesting to some of you, but it is rather significant to me at this point in time…lol…here we go…wait for it……………ENGAGE!!! (For those who got that, KUDOS TO YOU!!! XD)

Man…what could be better than talking about how I entered this contest with less than 90 mins remaining…lol hey…can you believe it?! until 90 mins ago, I didn’t even know what the hell a blog was! Then, here I am…writing away! And to tell you the truth, I’m getting hooked in this! So…it started with me asking as to what is going on. I was told about blogging and the different topics that they are given every hour…I went around and talke to a bunch of the guys and I saw by their looks that they are really into this…

A few minutes later, Walter called me over and gave me all this free stuff (Thanks, Walter!!!) after he interviewed me and learned of the business venture that I am currently involved in. Then, off I went. I thought that was the end of that…

I realized something a few minutes later: whatever questions I answered could not compare to the amount of stuff I was given…Let me tell you a little something about me: I will never take any favor I receive for granted and because of this, the only logical thing for me to do is to do something special…I beatboxed, not just for Walter, but pretty much for everyone, because as fixated as the contestants are in this contest, I can only imagine that they would be nearing their breaking point…I for one would not want to sit in front of a computer for 9 hours…I gotta hand it to you guys…that’s a lot of dedication, and I will wish each and everyone of you the best of luck in getting that laptop…and you will forever have my respect…a few beat-box songs and another bag of free stuff later (Thanks again, Walter! XD), Walter announces a separate contest where $200 is up for grabs…at this point, I don’t even care about the prize…I am simply too hooked at the moment to care about anything at this moment…so now, I am at my fifth and maybe my final post of the supposed to be 9 topics, with my fingers shaking. But in all honesty, I have no regrets in this except the one about signing up earlier…but altogether, I am thankful to everyone at BlogCamp for opening my eyes to what will most likely be a new hobby for me…thak you very much, guys — staff and contestants…I found myself a new way to express myself. If it is possible, I would like to keep in touch with all of you through facebook…I’ll leave my FB name at the bottom after this…

As I said earlier, this will be my final piece for the evening, and I am at my happiest in a long time and I wish the rest of you the best of luck again as I wrap this up…

BlogCamp 2009: Success!

Describe your BlogCamp experience, what you’ve learned, observations, etc.

When I first heard that BlogCamp was going to be nine hours (!!), I was a little daunted. I thought the time wouldn’t go very fast.

That is not AT ALL how it’s been! There have been so many things going on! Time really has flown. There are only about 15 minutes left now.

I’ve met so many cool people today. I had a great time with the sponsors who were here (Sonic Intern Army, the guys from Toybox Media, the Youth Emergency Shelter, among many others)! So many friends dropped by to cheer me on, which was amazing. The support from everyone has been wonderful. I know a lot more people than I thought! :) I hope everyone who was watching the live cam enjoyed seeing me sing along to “Business Time” and go all Godzilla on that piece of veggie pizza!

I got to meet Mike and Lenny, which was definitely a highlight. I can’t wait to see the rest of the webisodes. In part 2, when Lenny forcefeeds Mike the coffee, I started laughing out loud, which was a little embarrassing, since I was watching it online with my earbuds in, so it definitely looked like I was laughing at nothing.

I’d like to thank Walter from FusedLogic for all his hard work today and for the past few weeks promoting BlogCamp. It’s been a really fun event.

Peace out! Thanks again, everyone! :)

Blog Camp EXPERIENCE…..

Soooo, Blog Camp… What happened?  Well, I think it started out with a bang lots of people around watching and participating. I was hopping from twitter to blogspot to macewan blogcamp to facebook back and forth, over and over again.  As the hours wore on (and the topics got more involved) my variation diminished.

Also my voting started out very positive but took a turn for the negative in the middle, but recovered a bit near the end…

All and all I’ve seen how blogging on such a large scale can drastically expand your electronic footprint, especially on google rankings (ex. http://www.joinalbertacops.ca/macewan).  If you’re blogging for 9 hours it’s important to have sweet people around you, namely: Aaron, Colin, Joe, Jana, Walter, Fusedlogic, etc.

Great time all around, thanks to everyone envolved! (Hope i win the Macbook!!)

Cheers,

Pfins

Blogxperience

Long, Tiring and Complex as it was, it was like a computerized marathon. Maybe I might not win but I survived. I felt like giving up at times but I gathered enough strenght to survive. I had blogged in the past but once a week. Hence this was unventured territory for me.

But, I made it. Thanks to continous motivation from the prizes and stuff. It was an amazing experience which I shall Cherish a lot.

I thank everyone who came out and voted. Thanks.

Pistol Pete’s BlogCamp Experience

It’s been a long day of aggressively blogging and driving traffic towards my blogs. First, we had the food and all the prizes.

They kept coming all night. I’ve got myself a few new t-shirts to sport in my classes. I did some push-ups and some sit-ups, some amateur video recording (see my posts on YouTube) and I observed some beatboxing.

Let me tell you, you get really wired when you sit infront of FaceBook, Twitter (id:r11Live), Google Groups, YouTube, MSN, Google Talk, Outlook… and more. I think everyone I know is starting to get frustrated with the amount of messages that I’ve been sending them.

I know I have about 50 texts on my phone from them likely saying what the heck? All in all I think this was extreemly rapid fire communicating.

Contact me for whatever reason at: r11.mobi@gmail.com

I’m also on LinkedIn, Google Groups

And most importanltly: I have an awesome blog up at MyExplosion.net

my blog camp experience.

I have learnt that i actually like blogging again! i used to blog atlot in highschool and stuff when i was pretty emo. then i grew out of it. I felt like it was super pretencious and trendy to write about yourself all the time. BUT after doing this i guess i see that you can use blogs to reach people about important issues. All the support  from sponsors and students and friends is amazing! I just think about what power i could have to change things in the world!

MOST OF ALL! this will be a memorable expirence that i will always remember and hopefully will have met some new people and made some new friends!

THANK YOU!!!!

How do you get students involved?

Having put on the Alberta COPS BBQ earlier this week i noticed a real hesitancy by younger students to get involved.  Perhaps that’s a unfair generalization but i can identify with that feeling myself, having not got involved in any events until my last two years…(Except this, see photo)

September 16, 2004

Patrick Finegan, South Campus, won prizes for his hole-in-one.

Why did i participate? Beer and golf, two things i enjoy.. For our event we tried to come up with ideas to bridge the gap between the students at our college and police services.  What better than silly activities to create a goofy and relaxed atmosphere to bring everyone out of their shell.. Anyway that’s a way to get people involved i think, its hard!!

Cheers,

Pfins

Will Alberta better weather the current economic crisis than other regions?

I guess I can only rely on my personal opinion in this matter since I’m running rather low on time (less than 30 min left). All I can say is that the only reason why we aren’t suffering as much as expected can be attributed to the number of manpower that we have, and a huge percentage of it is comprised of the thousands of contract workers that currently reside in the province’s major cities. Because of this, there are quite a few more individuals that are willing to stimulate the economy bacause of the income they produce. (wow…this is rather short…lol)
