Well,

The main advantage that Alberta has over other provinces is its abundance of oil and gas. It is well known that we are an energy province and that is where the majority of our jobs, and therefore our sustainability, lies. The current economic meltdown has temporarily dropped the price of oil which has forced layoffs in our province and across the country. Until we have found a new viable source of energy, the demand for oil and gas will only increase and increase. If Alberta is the hot spot for these commodities, it only makes sence that this industry will be booming again before long.  Other provinces are not as fortunate as we are with our oil and gas which is why we may come through the boom a little safer than other provinces.
