What have you learned about business? Why is business important?
Business is just about organization and communication. Business is an organic process that happens naturally in life. It can’t be avoided. If business wasn’t business, we would still have business. Business is only the word, not the idea.
It is important because it is apart of life. Nothing else can be said. Every aspect of life is essential and business is no exception.
Business is complicated, constantly evolving, and dynamic. No one will be able to master business, but I’m sure many can properly tame it.
Have you ever held a taser in your hand? Have you ever felt the power surge through your body while holding a taser? Have you seen electricity blaze into the body of another person? If you said yes to any of these questions, I would like to meet you cause that’s soooo cool! And if you said no, well, that’s too bad.
Tasers need to be moderated, that is true. But I believe the taser is just the next in line weapon under the evolution of the hand-held weapon. Will it replace modern day guns, no, but it does give us an alternative in law enforcement. If I had the option to shoot a man (and because I have terrible aim, I would accidently kill him) or taser a man (no matter how terrible my aim is, I can still temporarily disable him), I’d probably choose the taser. I know I wouldn’t feel good about myself killing a man, no matter then crime. But if I can catch him with the use of my handy taser, and cause no long-term damage, then woohoo, all the power to the taser.
Of course, it’s not necessary to gang up on an assailant, and taser him to death. One wouldn’t do this with a gun, so why would anyone do this with a taser? Again, moderation is key. Law enforement needs adequate training and protocols when such a device can and should be used.
Take my Taser yo!!
Tasers are supposed to reduce deaths, not create them.
Describe how you decided which post-secondary institution to attend and what program to take.
School was always in the plan for me. I was (am?) smart and to not school go to school after High School was just out the question. My reasoning was, if I don’t go to school, a) I’ll have to pay rent at home or b) I’ll have to move out and live without the help of my parents. Both options made me teary eyed and thus, I used my smarts and set out to apply for school.
In the beginning, I had an idea, and only one idea. This idea was to go to Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton. I basically put all my eggs in one basket and only applied to MacEwan. Why? Cause the U of A scared me. It scared me good. So good in fact that when I go there to visit friends, I seem to screw things up. Such as driving the wrong way, parking in “unsafe” places, and so on. Grant MacEwan looked cool and rad. To me, it was like a glorified high school. Not to imitating, but just enough of a step to feel what school is like in a large city. As an aside, I’m from Stony Plain. It’s not that far from here, but far enough to confuse people who always just thought I lived on Stony Plain Road. Anyway, (you might notice, well not yet cause this is my first post, but my tendency to pursue random tangents of uselessness) where was I. Ah yes, MacEwan, and why I am here. It seemed like a great stepping-stone.
I finally chose attack the school of business. I thought, well, I knew, that business was my only viable option. Nothing else interested me. If I wanted to work for the companies I dreamed about at night, the only way I thought I could get there was with a business degree. The Transfer program with the U of A seemed alright. The U of A was the dreadful part, but eh, I needed to become a man, so maybe eventually going to the U of A would toughen me up. Obviously, I’m not there, so in my eyes, I’m still a boy living the fairytale dream.
Was there a real reason for my madness? Not really. I mean could say that MacEwan offered smaller class sizes, lower tuition fees, cool teachers of coolness, and free parking (for those who looked for it…hehe). Oh my gosh, THEY DID!! That is so awesome.
You know people like to make things smaller than they are. People are used to living small and thinking of a career as a job, something they sort of like. Not me. When my life fell apart and my almost marriage had failed, when I was living in my sisters basement, I took a career planning course.
I was lucky enough to have an instructor who was gentle and convinced me that it was possible to have a career I both love and enjoy.
I took the career planning with BGS enterprises and one of the possible careers I found was public relations. PR - writing and talking - my two loves and two greatest skills.
I looked into MacEwan because the government of Alberta site had it listed as a school where I could study PR. I saw the program was only a year intensive.
I wanted to get my life together again as fast as possible, so I applied to MacEwan.
I am ready. Login (check), coca-cola (check), chips (check), awesome Blog Camp shirt (check), goody bag (check). Ideas…. That could be a problem. I can’t wait for the first question to be asked. That will get me thinking and typing.

Inclusive post secondary is an amazing thing. It gives people with disabilities the benefits and the opportunities that every single person should have. Because of inclusive students are able to go to class and to make friendships. Just like you and I. :O)
