Government and the media

Call it a law or call it a favour. Government has used Media since its inception for a positive propoganda. Without media, government is crippled but is it true vice versa? Is the media crippled without governmental support? I think no. The goverment might have more powers over the laws and regulations guiding the industry but the general public is the one who subscribes to the service. The government might be able to exert some force over what is shown and what goes unnoticed in the media but too much involvement will surely call for the doom of public media. In short, the government should be aware of its clear limits on media control.
