Business Ethics oxymoron???

bush
So, is business ethics and oxymoron?

Well it sure would seem that way looking at the history of modern economics, but if you look at the principles highlighted by Adam Smith in ALL his books, you would see that ethics play a vital roll in the success of our modern economic juggernaut.

The effort is there to improve business ethics, but the reality is human urges like greed and selfishness are evidently something that more often than not coincide with success in the business world… Further regulation and steeper penalties for violating laws should hopefully help, but scandals always seem to have a way of repeating themselves..

SOOO…. this topic is significantly more serious than the last, even threw in some ear plugs to concentrate…lame… Anyway there’s a few thoughts on that..

Cheers,

Pfins

MacEwan?? What Program?? ARGH…

Alright, why MacEwan?

Well first off, to be honest I was pretty lazy in high school so my marks simply weren’t up to snuff to get into U of A… What a blessing in disguise!!  Despite the fact that I live 3 blocks away from the U of A the small class size, great profs, and a great deal of support for any student initiatives makes MacEwan a great college/university (which one is it?) to attend!!
I started out in Arts and like most people was just sorta farting around, waiting for that enlightend moment when it would all be clear to me what i was destined to do… That moment never really happened so i decided after a couple years that business would have to do…  Not that there’s anything wrong with art history but you know, i need a job!!
This year is when I discovered i made the right decision, despite the economic melt down…  The business program is new and exciting, the courses are interesting and applicable to a future career in business (most of them.. orga humm i dunno..).  I participated in a great marketing competition this year (check out http://joinalbertacops.ca/macewan to help us win!!) and now this blog camp, all new and inivative ideas that really help put MacEwan on the map as a quality institution!
Alright, vote thumbs up even if you didn’t like it… Check out my other blog too! http://pfinsthoughts.blogspot.com/
Cheers
