What I learned about business
Business is tough………..and fur is murder
Never fear, we have not yet won the competition so you guys can still help your school by visiting www.joinalbertacops.ca/macewan or complete the survey, vote for poster competition, ect. There really are some viable careers in policing if you did’nt already know that. Our team will get to go to Calgary to present if we get in 1st or 2nd, and we would love to do that. We want to show the judges we made an impact throught this blog competition so comment on the event or go to the website!
They should probly give up cause they got no future anywhere in the acting business. Terrible. Waste of my valuable blogging time
Hey all,
If you got an extra minute, you could help us with this survey. Its borring but i’m sure you might have a spare minute sometime in this 10 hours. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=WbdGeZvoVWu2KCjeakVzaw_3d_3d Its about COPS, again.
Well,
The main advantage that Alberta has over other provinces is its abundance of oil and gas. It is well known that we are an energy province and that is where the majority of our jobs, and therefore our sustainability, lies. The current economic meltdown has temporarily dropped the price of oil which has forced layoffs in our province and across the country. Until we have found a new viable source of energy, the demand for oil and gas will only increase and increase. If Alberta is the hot spot for these commodities, it only makes sence that this industry will be booming again before long. Other provinces are not as fortunate as we are with our oil and gas which is why we may come through the boom a little safer than other provinces.
I actually knew someone who was tazered by a police officer, and died. Well, i did’nt personally know him but my friend went to school with the kids cousin. So i naturally felt close to him. I agree police do need some sort of defensive weapon to take down the bad guys, but the studies don’t lie and they say that people can die. I believe that this is an area of research that needs to be further developed to either A)develop a new defense mechanism for the officers to use, or B) develop a way to make them safer so that people with heart conditions ect. dont die. I suggest some form of a laghing lazer so that the victim may enjoy the takedown while still being subdued for the police to get em. Patend Pending.
Heres some goofy pictures to pass the time from our event. That dog was pretty intense.
We held a police recruiting event at MacEwan a couple of days ago. Its a marketing competition we participated in going against schools like NAIT, SAIT, U of L, U of C, ect. We get judged based on hit counts that go to this site www.joinalbertacops.ca/macewan . If you bloggers got some time over these 10 hours, click this and help the macewan team reach ultimate victory over these chumps.
In today’s business world, right and wrong is no longer a clear cut case. In many cases it depends how far you are willing to go to be successful and make the big bucks. Many companies, not naming any names, are willing to conduct unethical business practises such as exploiting cheap labour in underdeveloped countries because they place lower cost higher on their priorities list then promoting “ethical behavior” within their company. But then again, these countries need the jobs and they would not have them if these companies leave. Some companies have no problem with this because it is not technically illegal so they therefore justify this through thinking if its not illegal its not unethical. School and businesses always teach us that profit is the bottom line and that is all that matters, so who knows.
This was cited from an ethics paper i wrote last semester. I got an A, so you know its good.
I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce program at Grant MacEwan College. I decided on Grant MacEwan pretty much cause its the only school i got accepted into. I started out in the Science program 4 years ago! I hated it so i dropped out. I then went into accounting only to drop out 1 year later. I then went into a diploma program called Supply Chain Management. After a year of this, i actually decided to go for another year. But when i tryed to register for my second year, the course code was not even on the website. So i went to the registrar to complain and see whats up, they told me they got rid of my program and that it was going to become a major in the Commerce program. So i once again dropped out and registered for commerce. I went to register and still there were no Supply Chain courses. I went back yet again only to find out that Supply Chain did not get approved for funding. Perfect. So i asked, what am i supposed to do for a year till it gets approved? They said take electives, so i have been in a heavenly bliss of business electives for the past year. Gotta love progress.
