Write on whatever topic you would like: funny, serious, whatever! (tag it with “open topic”)

OK…this will never come out as funny nor interesting to some of you, but it is rather significant to me at this point in time…lol…here we go…wait for it……………ENGAGE!!! (For those who got that, KUDOS TO YOU!!! XD)

Man…what could be better than talking about how I entered this contest with less than 90 mins remaining…lol hey…can you believe it?! until 90 mins ago, I didn’t even know what the hell a blog was! Then, here I am…writing away! And to tell you the truth, I’m getting hooked in this! So…it started with me asking as to what is going on. I was told about blogging and the different topics that they are given every hour…I went around and talke to a bunch of the guys and I saw by their looks that they are really into this…

A few minutes later, Walter called me over and gave me all this free stuff (Thanks, Walter!!!) after he interviewed me and learned of the business venture that I am currently involved in. Then, off I went. I thought that was the end of that…

I realized something a few minutes later: whatever questions I answered could not compare to the amount of stuff I was given…Let me tell you a little something about me: I will never take any favor I receive for granted and because of this, the only logical thing for me to do is to do something special…I beatboxed, not just for Walter, but pretty much for everyone, because as fixated as the contestants are in this contest, I can only imagine that they would be nearing their breaking point…I for one would not want to sit in front of a computer for 9 hours…I gotta hand it to you guys…that’s a lot of dedication, and I will wish each and everyone of you the best of luck in getting that laptop…and you will forever have my respect…a few beat-box songs and another bag of free stuff later (Thanks again, Walter! XD), Walter announces a separate contest where $200 is up for grabs…at this point, I don’t even care about the prize…I am simply too hooked at the moment to care about anything at this moment…so now, I am at my fifth and maybe my final post of the supposed to be 9 topics, with my fingers shaking. But in all honesty, I have no regrets in this except the one about signing up earlier…but altogether, I am thankful to everyone at BlogCamp for opening my eyes to what will most likely be a new hobby for me…thak you very much, guys — staff and contestants…I found myself a new way to express myself. If it is possible, I would like to keep in touch with all of you through facebook…I’ll leave my FB name at the bottom after this…

As I said earlier, this will be my final piece for the evening, and I am at my happiest in a long time and I wish the rest of you the best of luck again as I wrap this up…

Will Alberta better weather the current economic crisis than other regions?

I guess I can only rely on my personal opinion in this matter since I’m running rather low on time (less than 30 min left). All I can say is that the only reason why we aren’t suffering as much as expected can be attributed to the number of manpower that we have, and a huge percentage of it is comprised of the thousands of contract workers that currently reside in the province’s major cities. Because of this, there are quite a few more individuals that are willing to stimulate the economy bacause of the income they produce. (wow…this is rather short…lol)

Should Tasers be banned or not?

Psshh…I don’t mean to be harsh, but frankly, there are other issues that require more attention than this…all this unnecessary hype that surround this topic gets to be rather irritating at times…I came from a country that has capital punishment legalized, so I’ve seen worse things than people being tasered…in all honesty, I think tasers should stay with the police force, as long as those who wield it use absolute caution and be reasonable as to when it is required to pull out those tasers amid the screams of “DON’T TAZE ME, BRO!” lol (gets me everytime…XD) I mean let’s face it…there are individuals who don’t learn their lesson without pain being a part of it…and as humane as we all try to be, I know this sounds harsh, but a little pain is enough to keep most citizens in line.

1:30 – Topic 2 - Is ‘business ethics’ an oxymoron? Do business ethics need to improve? If so, how?

Well…that’s a rather touchy subject, isn’t it? Business being an oxymoron? I guess it all depends on your perspective…and which aspect of it you are referring to…If you’re looking from the consumer’s point of view, it may come as an oxymoron…but realize this: while we do provide you with services, products, etc, we are only doing this because we benefit from the profits we generate by providing such commodities…is it so wrong to earn money in this process? Think about it for a minute…without that aspect of business, we could only wither and die…it’s as simple as that…

As much as people demand that our ethics in business be improved, business bylaws that concern customers are designed so that the company gets the upper hand should a dispute ever arise, as long as the business keeps its operations legit. If businesses were to “improve” their ethics, it would only be to improve their state when dealing with such disputes. I guess all I can say to you guys is: “suck it up…” as harsh as that sounds…

Describe how you decided which post-secondary institution to attend and what program to take.

There isn’t really a lot I can say about this topic…but as small as this piece is going to be, at least you can count on this as being honest…I initially, I had intended to attend the U of A, but after weighing in both U of A and GMac,

I chose this school for a few reasons:

1. affordability - Gran MacEwan has a tuition that was about roughly 10% lower than that of U of A.

2. small class sizes - prior to coming here, I went to a U of A open house, and after coming out of there, I thought: “I WILL NOT FREAKING SURVIVE HERE.” honestly…400 people?! And to make matters worse, some chick who was hosting the lecture hall I was in said “it’s not that bad, huh?” — let’s just leave that as I saw right through that and I would’ve strangled her for that…lolz

3. a tight-knit community - this reason bacame apparent to me as I attended GMac…I have developed a relationship with a few of my classmates that would never occured in a setting of 300-400 people…as well, the school spirit that most students have here is extrememly phenomenal. If someone would have asked me to prove the statement “enthusiasm is contagious,” I’ll definitely take that person here…that said, this goes out to the students who participate in just about every event that this school comes up with: thanks for making me feel that I belong here…without you guys, I would have been having a rather wasteful 4 years…lol

As for being able to choose the program I wanted to attend, let me just say that BComm saved my freaking life…lol I would’ve been enrolled in some crap program where my only option would be researching in a lab, isolated from the rest of humanity for 8-12 hours everyday…yeah, sure, it would earn a lot of cash…I mean…let’s face it…the world today needs a lot of scientists (I wanted to be a biochemist). But I realized something: could I apply that knowledge in my NORMAL life? I think that you can answer that…most likely not…if you’re a doctor, nurse, etc…maybe you can, but I don’t think a biochemist would sit in front of TV, for example, and judge a commercialized product because of its chemical composition…If you’re one of those people, I suggest you get a life…lol…no offense….but seriously…I know I wouldn’t…

Anyway…Bachelor of Commerce was something that became an obvious choice for me bacause of that fact that I have been developing basic business skills all my life…I realized this when I entered Junior Achievement last year. The more I learned about the business world, the more I wanted to know…next thing I know, I’m here in the BComm program, and loving every minute of it!
